About Me

I am the co-founder of EDGE Asset Management Limited and EDGE Research & Consulting Limited. Both of these companies were started in 2018 and have become trusted names in Bangladesh in their respective fields. Prior to wearing the entrepreneur hat, I have worked as an investment analyst for global firms in both buy-side (Investment Consultant at Caravel Management LLC) and sell-side roles (Associate Director at Exotix/Tellimer) covering equities in Frontier Asia.

I have invested in a few startups in AI/ML, Edtech, and Online Grocery Retailing space. Have also advised a few other startups with financial planning, fundraising, strategy, growth, and marketing.

I dedicate a lot of time to learn with books being the favorite medium. Also actively volunteer with the CFA Society Bangladesh (Founding board member) in various roles such as coordinating digital marketing, organizing outreact programs, hosting the CFAI Research Challenge, advocacy work, conducting training sessions etc.

  5. Hello Asif bhai,
I am a preparing myself to appear for CFA Level 1 2016 June exam and also looking for a suitable entry level jobs relevant to CFA program aspects. For the time being, I want to develop my MS excel skills which I guess most important and set a better edge for a finance graduate to land on a job. Will you give me some advice how can I start to learn financial modelling in online? Can you suggest me any weblinks or free tutorials where I can start and learn from very basic. (like equity valuation, sensitivity, scenario analysis). I have already studied portfolio, equity and corporate finance from CFAI curriculum. So, I believe I have learned the basic theoretical knowledge and want to know how an investment analyst construct a model for picking up the right stock in equity valuation.

Apart from that, As you are working in frontier equity markets and works for an International investment bank from Bangladesh, would you please tell me what sort of basic things that I need to deliver in cover letter to work in merchant banks/or asset management companies ? I have randomly emailed my resume in different merchant banks and some asset management companies in Bangladesh on their stated career email address but No single positive response I have received. How they recruit associate, analyst, or other entry level positions for their comapany?

I hope my message finds you well and hope to hearing from you.

    Best Regards,
    Saffat
